Information coming soon…
COVID-19 and the racial equity movement have increased the urgency for social mission in health professions education – to address diversity, equity, and inclusion in education, to produce graduates to care for our highest-need communities, and to train future health equity and social justice leaders.

The health and safety of attendees, speakers, students, and staff remain our top priority. The Beyond Flexner Alliance has created and implemented a plan to minimize Covid-19 transmission at our event. Below are various requirements and changes to the attendee experience. We ask that all participants adhere to the guidelines to ensure a safe experience for everyone. These protocols will continue to evolve based on modified standards and public health and governmental directives.

Vaccination
All attendees are required to show proof of vaccination (along with matching I.D) before entering our event. Proof of vaccination can be your physical vaccine card or a photo of your card. A person is considered fully vaccinated 2 weeks after completion of a two-dose mRNA (either Pfizer or Moderna), series, or one dose of the Janssen vaccine.

Exclusions will only be made for children under 12 who are not yet fully vaccinated and for those with documented qualifying medical conditions preventing them from becoming vaccinated. For those attendees, a negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen laboratory test taken within 48 hours of the event date will be accepted, along with the documentation of medical exemption (and matching photo ID).

Although not required, we strongly recommend all guests receive the “booster” dose of the COVID-19 vaccination, if you are more than 6 months out from your second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine (either Pfizer or Moderna), or more than 2 months out from your first dose of the J&J vaccine.

Masks
We require that all staff and attendees wear well-fitting masks or respirators that fit completely over their noses and mouths, regardless of vaccination status, except when actively eating or drinking.

While the in-person conference has been a critical part of advancing the social mission, we also recognize the realities of COVID-19 as it relates to community health priorities, travel and institution restrictions. As such, the Beyond Flexner Alliance, A.T. Still University, and the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation at Arizona State University are very pleased to announce that the March 2022 conference will be a hybrid one. Thank you for all that you do to advance the social mission. It’s clear our work is important, and we look forward to seeing you in-person or online in 2022.
